Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2024

We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This document sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read it carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. By accessing pages or resources on our website, you are agreeing to the terms of this policy.

Who we are

This website’s address is https://keysticks.net. It is owned and operated by Tim Brogden, a British software developer.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Cookies

We use cookies on this website to make the functionality of the site work. View/change your cookie consent preferences

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. reCAPTCHA sets a cookie named _grecaptcha.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you have visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy policies of these embedded content providers.

Contact form

If you contact us using a contact form on our site, we will receive your correspondence as an email and store it together with the contact information you provide. This is so that we may respond to you and deal with your enquiry. We may provide an option to allow you to authorise us to publish certain information you provide (for example, feedback comments on our Keysticks software, either anonymously or together with your name) on this website; in this case, your explicit consent will be sought first (for example, via an opt-in checkbox on the contact form) and you will be free to revoke your consent at any time.

User account management forms

We provide the facility to create a user account on our site, which requires us to collect a minimal amount of personal information. You are asked to provide a username, which is an identifier that will be used to label any content that you submit to our site (including via the Keysticks software). This may be publicly visible to other users of our Keysticks software and/or other visitors to our website. We also ask you to provide an email address and choose a password. Your email address is stored securely and is only used for the purpose of managing your account. The website does not store your password at all as this is not necessary.

Keysticks profiles

If you choose to create a user account on our site, you have the option to share Keysticks profile files from within the Keysticks software; these are sets of controls that you create for games and applications. When you choose to share a Keysticks profile file, it will be uploaded to our website and made freely available to other users of Keysticks, and potentially to other visitors to our website, for them to download and use. Such Keysticks profile files do not contain personal data, but users and/or visitors will be able to see your username associated with them. By choosing to share a profile file, you are giving your consent to this use. If you tick the ‘Remember me’ option when logging in to the Download Area in the Keysticks software, an encrypted copy of your Keysticks password will be stored in a file on your computer.

Analytics

When you browse our site, your IP address and browser details may be logged and analysed for the purpose of spam detection.

We do not analyse individual users of our website or software. We may inspect user-submitted content, such as Keysticks profile files, to ensure that it complies with our terms of use and to allow us to block any users who abuse them.

Who we share your data with

We do not and will not share personal data with any third parties unless you have explicitly authorised us to do so, or we are compelled to do so by law. Examples of when we might share your personal data with your prior permission are: when you share a Keysticks profile (your username will be visible to others – see above); when you send us some information, such as feedback on Keysticks, and tell us that we can publish it on our website.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you contact us using a contact form on our site, we will store your correspondence with us while the matter at hand is still current, then subsequently archive or delete it. For users that register (create a user account) on our website, we also store the personal information they provide during registration. All users can view, edit, and delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit some of that information.

How we protect your data

Some of the ways in which we protect your data are:

  • Hosting our website on a secure server located in the European Union, with SSL security to encrypt requests to it.
  • Controlling access to our website administration tools.
  • Encrypting or hashing sensitive data in our database so that it is not stored in human-readable form, or is not stored at all. For example, if you create a user account on our website, we do not store your password, but instead store a one-way ‘hash’ value calculated from it; this allows us to check if the password you enter is correct but cannot be converted back into the password itself.
  • Archiving and/or deleting data when it is no longer required (for example, emails).

Where you have chosen (or we have given you) a password which enables you to access certain features of our website or the Keysticks software, you are responsible for keeping that password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we use security procedures and features designed to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our website; any transmission is at your own risk.

What rights you have over your data

If you have a user account on this website, or have contacted us through the website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How to contact us

You are welcome to contact us by filling out the form on the contact page of our website.
